Me:
I’m an Australian (Melbournian) now living in London…my story in a nutshell:
* bummed around for years after leaving school – tennis player / coach, taxi driver, deli chick, gallup poll interviewer…
* Officer in the Australian Army in the 1980s…given the weekend to decide whether to resign or be court-martialled after admitting I was gay…
* started my own recruiting business when I left the Army – hit by the 1990′s recession
* worked as a successful corporate trouble-shooter and new business start-up project manager with Melbourne Pathology, Mayne and Bonlac
* did an MBA at Deakin – 16 units is 3 years while working full time – what life?
* started my longest-term relationship in 1999 with my now Civil Partner (UK) – she’s shy so that’s all you get!
* started a new consultancy business (Ithaca Business) in 2001 in Australia – attracted blue-chip and government clients and had excellent success (as well as the classic stressed out moments of small business)
* moved to London in 2005, started Ithaca Business over here – same levels of success now being achieved, employing people etc….more about my business on other pages
* in my spare time I like to walk and cycle, go to the cinema and, occasionally, the theatre…I read and play computer stategy games – and plan holidays!
* we love travelling – one of the reasons we left Australia…highlight of the past few years on this front was Kilimanjaro but other great trips were to Fes, Dubrovnik, Provence, Scotland and some of England’s great countryside
* I’m an amateur philosopher, idealist and ethicist – nothing better than a long, involved conversation over good food and good wine!
* I see connections and put people in touch – across the town, the country and the world
In the end I love solving problems and making things work better for businesses of all shapes and sizes – although I’ve had a few different jobs (and, some might say, different careers)…I’ve actually always done the same thing: make things that aren’t working – Work!
The business I have built is full of people who love the same challenge!
What we do can involve organisational structure and design, process creation or reengineering, specifying, sourcing and implementing new software, change management – and, most important, helping people with the most difficult part – making it work!
That is what gives me the BUZZ – doing more with less!
